Stampings are widely used in various industries. Some defects often happen, such as dimensions out of tolerances, deformation, defects in material itself, poor finish. Below inspections are normally used.
1, Inspection of appearance. This is to inspect size, shape, and finish usually by visual check, touch, compare with some standard templates.
2, Inspection of dimensions. Precision and consistence are critical for stampings. Inspection methods include caliper, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), laser, optical compare, etc.
3, Inspection of material. This is to inspect chemical, physical, and microstructure, by chemical analysis, destructive or non-destructive tests, metallographic analysis.
4, Inspection of performances. Such as hardness, fatigue, corrosion resistance. These tests can evaluate quality and performance of stampings which require special applications.
